Claude Code video editing in one command

Tell Claude Code "edit everything in ./raw for Shorts". It runs BatchEdits, and a folder of captioned, silence-free, vertical videos lands in ./edited.

Ran a batch of 12 talking-head clips through it and the silence trimming was impressively clean, no awkward half-words cut mid-syllable like I was expecting. Captions landed pretty close to perfect on the first pass.

How to edit videos with Claude Code

Claude Code drives the BatchEdits CLI: it uploads the files from your folder, edits them all in parallel and downloads the results.

    1. 1

      Sign in once

Claude Code runs this and your browser opens to approve it. The login is stored on your machine, so Claude never sees a key.

      npx batchedits login
    2. 2

      Describe the look

Ask for the edits in plain words. Claude Code saves them as a reusable style.

npx batchedits style create "Shorts" --crop 9:16 --silence --captions --zoom
    3. 3

      Edit the whole folder

One command uploads, edits, waits and downloads. Claude Code asks you before it passes --yes and spends credits.

npx batchedits run ./raw --style "Shorts" --out ./edited --yes

    Things to ask Claude Code

    • “Edit the videos in ./raw for Shorts and put them in ./edited.”
    • “Make the captions in my Shorts style yellow and centered.”
    • “Cut ./podcast.mp4 into 8 vertical clips with captions.”
    • “Every Friday, edit whatever is in ~/videos/raw with my Shorts style.”

    Can Claude Code edit videos?

Claude Code can run ffmpeg, but captioning, cutting silences and cropping every video by hand takes a lot of scripting and checking. With BatchEdits it's one command: Claude Code runs npx batchedits, which uploads your folder, adds captions in 99+ languages, removes silences, crops to 9:16 and downloads the edited videos, up to 50 at once.

CLI, MCP or a script: which should Claude Code use?

    Founder of BatchEdits
Hey, Content Creator from United States 🇺🇸

I'm Shayan, the creator of BatchEdits. I've been building in public and shipping products for years.

I've listened to Alex Hormozi, Gary Vee, and every top creator talk about what actually grows an audience.

They all say the same thing.

Post consistently. Post volume. The creators who win aren't the ones with the best editing — they're the ones who show up every single day.

But here's the problem nobody talks about:

Editing is the wall that stops most creators from ever getting there. You film 10 videos and spend 3 weeks editing them one by one .By the time you finish, your momentum is gone, your ideas have gone stale, and you're too burned out to film the next batch.

The content game is won in the upload, not the edit.

So I built BatchEdits for 3 reasons:

    • Post 30 videos in the time it takes most creators to edit one and finally have the volume that grows channels.
    • Discover what consistent posting actually does to your growth and stop leaving views on the table by showing up halfway.
    • Win with volume , because the creator who posts 30 videos will always beat the one who posts 5 perfectly edited ones.

The edit should never be the reason you're not posting.

I'm building BatchEdits in front of the world, one feature at a time. Let's ship. 🧑‍💻

Claude Code and BatchEdits: common problems

Exit code 3: sign in first
Run npx batchedits login (it opens your browser), or set BATCHEDITS_API_KEY on servers without a browser.
    Exit code 5: needs --yes
The CLI won't spend credits without a yes. Claude Code should ask you, then rerun with --yes.
Exit code 4: some videos failed
The other videos are still saved. Run npx batchedits status --json to see which failed and why.
    "No style named …"
List styles with npx batchedits styles, or create one with npx batchedits style create.
    npx fails to start
The CLI needs Node.js 18.17 or newer. Check with node --version.
    FAQS

    Got Questions? We've Got Answers.

Can Claude Code edit multiple videos at once?

Yes. Point npx batchedits run at a folder and every video in it (up to 50 per run) is uploaded, edited in parallel with the same style and downloaded to your output folder.

Do I use the CLI or the MCP server in Claude Code?

The CLI (npx batchedits) is the better fit: it reads videos straight from your disk and saves the edited ones into a folder. The MCP server works too (claude mcp add --transport http batchedits https://batchedits.com/api/mcp, then /mcp to sign in), but it can't save files to your computer.

Does Claude Code see my API key?

No. npx batchedits login stores the login on your machine and never prints it. On servers and CI, set BATCHEDITS_API_KEY in the environment instead.

Can I run it in CI or a cron job?

Yes. Set BATCHEDITS_API_KEY and run npx batchedits run <folder> --style "<name>" --out <folder> --yes --json. Exit codes tell your script what happened (0 done, 4 some videos failed, 5 needs --yes).

Can I change caption colours and other settings?

Yes. Every setting from batchedits actions can be set with --set, for example --set captions.fontColor=#FFFF00 or --set silence.silentThreshold=0.06, and batchedits style edit changes a saved style.

Does it work in other coding agents?

Yes. Any agent that can run terminal commands can use the CLI, including Codex, OpenClaw and Hermes.

Where do the edited files go?

Into the folder you pass with --out (./edited by default when Claude Code follows the examples). AI clips are saved there too, one file per clip.

Can Claude Code edit more than 50 videos?

Each run takes up to 50 videos. For a bigger folder, Claude Code splits it and runs once per part; every run uses the same style.

    What does it cost?

Each edited video uses 1 credit, each AI clip 1. The 7-day free trial ($0 today) covers 10 videos, then Creator Starter is $20 a month for 30 videos.
